I used to think that when I became an adult I would not have to deal with acne anymore, but I was oh so wrong…
I am pretty envious of men who are able to have great skin with their daily routine of soap and water. When some of these men comment it is because of genetics, it is only partially true. The other side of the coin is that their skin do not experience large hormonal changes every month.
Because in a month, women have 4-5 days of PMS + 1 week of period + 1 week of ovulation = ~3 weeks of hormone (estrogen/progesterone) ups and downs leading to adult acne. Even the little testosterone we have in our system increases during menstruation to further activate the sebaceous glands to make even more sebum (oily skin lubricant).
I do not personally use all the products I have drawn in the comic, but many of these products may be familiar to women who have concerns about their skin – whether it’s adult acne, anti-aging, dry skin, sensitive skin, etc.
For those of you who do have skin concerns, remember that skin care products is only part of the battle; a balanced nutrition, thoroughly cleansing your skin, and under-exposure to UV light are also factors that can help maintain healthy skin.
